The items here in the mercantile are products highly recommended by myself, friends from my local rabbit sanctuary and/or bun parents via Instagram. These are considered necessity items for any pet rabbit, toys included.

HOUSING
I believe pet rabbits should be free roamed indoor pets. However, there are times such as bed or when the family is out of the house that a secure area can be a necessity. Exercise pens and pet playpens are the perfect choice. Beds, hidey huts, cozy blankets and hay bins should round out their living space.
SUPPLIES
These supplies are items a rabbit cannot do without. Trust me, you want your bunny to be litterbox trained! I actually use both of these litterboxes- I have 1 rabbit who chews plastic and therefore needs the metal box. Litter can be very personal especially depending on how many rabbits you have. Some are inexpensive while others cost a lot. Paper is a good option although I find it necessary to change it more often. The rest of the items are self explanatory however I recommend a tall decorative basket to hide your hay.
DIET
Diet and following the food pyramid is very important when owning a rabbit. Their digestive systems are very fragile. Different aged rabbits have different requirements as well. Hay makes up 80% of their diet so it’s important to find a type that your bun will enjoy. Treats should only be given on occasion so it’s important to get natural healthy treats.
HEALTH
When a pet rabbit becomes sick or injured, swift treatment is needed. My most important, #1 recommendation is to invest in a rabbit first aid kit. Having these items on hand can mean life or death especially if it is after hours and you can’t get to a vet.
GROOMING
Rabbits need to be groomed just like any other pet. They moult 3-4 times a year and their nails grow like crazy. After investing in numerous combs and brushes, this purple comb is by far my favorite! When clipping nails, it can be easy to nick the quick. A good pair of nail clippers and Styptic powder to stop bleeding will make you more secure when trimming your rabbit’s nails.
ENRICHMENT
Contrary to what many people believe, rabbits are very intelligent and social creatures. They may not be cuddly since they are prey and many adopted buns have had traumatic pasts, but having enriching toys on hand will help to both stimulate your rabbit and help you bond while playing. These are our favorite toys!
MISCELLANEOUS
Now, these items I have listed here may or may not be a necessity for you. A good hand vac is great for doing spot cleaning whether it is on a rug or wooden floor. I use my steam cleaner all the time now that I have an elderly arthritic bun who can’t make it to his pee pad. I also have the dehydrator so I have total control over treats for my rabbits. I also use vinegar to descale my litterboxes and I do use baby/pet gates to keep my buns off the stairs (for safety reasons).
